The Holy Synod of Bishops is the supreme ecclesiastical council of the Orthodox Mission in the Americas in matters of faith, order, discipline, and pastoral oversight. Composed of the bishops of the jurisdiction, the Holy Synod bears responsibility for guarding the Apostolic Faith, preserving the good order of the Church, overseeing the life and mission of the jurisdiction, and ensuring that all things are conducted in accordance with Holy Scripture, Holy Tradition, and the canonical life of the Orthodox Church.
In fidelity to the mind of the Church, the Holy Synod works in a spirit of conciliarity, brotherly counsel, and shared pastoral responsibility. Through its deliberations and decisions, the Synod seeks to preserve doctrinal integrity, promote ecclesial stability, strengthen the clergy and faithful, and guide the missionary work of the Church with wisdom, sobriety, and charity.
