About the Orthodox Mission in the Americas
Our Mission
The Orthodox Mission in the Americas is a missionary Orthodox jurisdiction devoted to the preservation, proclamation, and practical outworking of the Apostolic Faith once delivered unto the saints. Grounded in Holy Scripture, the sacred Tradition of the Church, the witness of the Holy Fathers, and the worshiping life of historic Orthodoxy, our mission is to plant faithful communities, strengthen the clergy and laity, and bear witness to the unchanging Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the Americas.
Our work is rooted in the conviction that the Orthodox Church is not merely one religious tradition among many, but the living continuation of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church confessed in the Nicene Creed. For this reason, we seek to cultivate communities marked by reverent worship, doctrinal soundness, pastoral care, sacramental life, and a steadfast commitment to holiness.
As a missionary body, the Orthodox Mission in the Americas exists to serve both established faithful and those who are newly seeking the ancient Christian faith. We labor to receive inquirers with charity, to catechize converts with care, to form clergy with seriousness, and to establish missions and parishes that are stable, disciplined, and rooted in the life of prayer. We believe that true missionary work must proceed not from novelty or compromise, but from fidelity to the fullness of the Orthodox Faith.
Our vision is not simply institutional expansion, but the planting of enduring Orthodox communities where the Divine Services are offered with reverence, the Scriptures are preached with clarity, the sacraments are administered faithfully, and the people of God are formed in repentance, charity, and perseverance. In every place, we desire to see the Church take root not as a passing enthusiasm, but as a living household of faith.
The Orthodox Mission in the Americas is committed to the historic worship, doctrine, and moral teaching of the Church. We uphold the authority of the Holy Scriptures, the Ecumenical Councils, the consensus of the Fathers, apostolic succession, and the sacramental life of the Church as essential to the life of Orthodox Christianity. We also seek to foster a missionary spirit that is both deeply traditional and pastorally attentive to the real needs of the people among whom we serve.
